JEDWare Caller ID page: 3CX outbound caller ID per extension with preset and last change

3CX outbound caller ID without the Management Console

Presets, typed numbers, the 3CX default or anonymous.

Caller ID sits in the JEDWare left menu. The Extensions tab lists every extension with the caller ID it shows today, where that number came from (a preset, a typed number or the 3CX default) and who changed it last. Tick one extension or fifty, click Set caller ID, choose the number and click Apply. JEDWare writes it to 3CX at once, and the next outbound call shows it.

Four choices. A preset from the list, any typed number such as a campaign line, the 3CX default from the Management Console, or anonymous.

Presets. Named numbers such as Sales line or Campaign spring. The name stays internal, only the number reaches the called party. The list shows how many extensions use each preset.

Permissions. Decide what users may pick. Leave only A preset from the list ticked and nobody can type a number by hand. Administrators can always use every choice.

Log. Every change made through JEDWare: when, which extension, which number and who did it. Useful when a customer asks why a call came from a number they did not expect.

Numbers must be ones your trunk provider accepts as caller ID. A number the provider does not own is usually replaced by the trunk number.

3CX caller ID questions

How do I set the outbound caller ID in 3CX for one extension?

Open Caller ID in the JEDWare left menu, tick the extension, click Set caller ID, pick a preset or type a number, and click Apply. JEDWare writes it to 3CX at once and the next outbound call shows the new number.

Can I change the 3CX caller ID for many extensions at once?

Yes. Tick as many extensions as you like on the Extensions tab. The counter on Set caller ID shows how many, and one dialog changes them all.

Can I stop agents from typing any number they like?

Yes. On the Permissions tab, leave only A preset from the list ticked. Agents then choose from the named presets, while administrators can always use every choice.

Why does the called party still see our trunk number?

Your trunk provider must accept the number as caller ID. A number the provider does not own is usually replaced by the trunk number, and some providers ignore Anonymous in the same way. Ask your 3CX partner which numbers are allowed.
